Top level Regional Initiatives Planning Research

Over the past few years (1997) all of the seven country health regions have completed or commenced, health needs assessments of the population in their region. This paper is a brief comparison of the results from four of the regions, namely the Hills Mallee Southern, Eyre, Riverland and South East regions.

Attached is a copy of the finding of the Hills Mallee Southern Regional Health Needs Assessment Project completed June 1997.

The Hills Mallee Southern Regional Health Service, in its first Strategic Plan, set out to determine service priorities that meet local needs. A regional Health Needs Assessment project was conducted in 1996/97 ( Diversity makes a difference), and the findings were used in developing a three-year Strategic Plan.
