Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapy service aims to help both adults and children with acquired or developmental difficulties, to attain the skill to perform the activities they need or want to perform as part of their daily lives. These may include, self-care, work tasks or leisure/play activities.

Clients are assisted to build upon and then use their existing skills to overcome or compensate for their difficulties. This in turn enhances their self-confidence and promotes independence and self-worth.
Services offered include:

Assessment of clients skills and problems areas related to performance of activities of daily living (e.g. showering, cooking and cleaning).

Assessment of clients environment where daily living activities take place

Provision and training with independent living aids/equipment
-
Home modifications including rails and ramps
-
Retraining in activities of daily living
-
Liaison with and education of care providers
-
Therapeutic/remedial programs for children.
