Diabetes Education Assessment and Screening

 

Top level Community Health Services Diabetes Education


The diabetes educator provides individual assessment and instruction on blood sugar testing as well as other aspects of diabetes management such as insulin injection.

Group education sessions on a wide variety of topics dealing with diabetes are held regularly, covering:

* Causes, symptoms, and treatment

* Dietary management

* Foot care, monitoring and routine checkups

* Preventing long term complications

Home visits are available if needed.

REGIONAL DIABETES CLINICS

The staff from the Health Service provide regular Diabetes Clinic Services in conjunction with local doctors. These clinics are offered on a monthly basis on Kangaroo Island, Victor Harbor and Goolwa. Clinics provide an annual assessment by the Podiatrist, Diabetic Nurse, Dietitian and the client’s local doctor. Referral from your GP is required to attend these clinics.
