The Mental Health Service assists those with a mental illness to aid them in maintaining optimum health and independence within their community.

The team works together with the community to initiate a variety of activities for people with mental illness. These activities help to promote acceptance of people with a mental illness within the broader community whilst giving clients a chance to partake in activities that they enjoy.

The team operates three streams of service including emergency response and case management in the community and a consultation service to the local hospital.
All services are accessed by referral from local doctors or specialst t reatment centres. Services focus promarily on those with a major mental illness and significant impairment in functioning.
Services include:

Consulting with other professionals,agencies, local and community hospitals.

Co-ordiantion of care

Support to clients and their carers

Education and counselling

Assistance in managing psychiatric medications

Support to enhance life and leisure skills

Providing understandable information on mental health

Advocacy for clients

Community development for education about mental health issues
